The recent tea parties taking place all over the country are a good start to turn the politcal tide and get Congress to listen to the roughly 58 million people who didn't vote for the "annointed one". However, it's going to take a lot more people before the halls of Congress start reverberating with the discontent of average Americans. Where are the masses of pissed off citizens clamoring to be heard? I know they're out there. I have yet to hear anyone I know (even the liberals) say that the economic fixes proposed and enacted by the Obama administration are a good thing and have a snowball's chance in hell of working.
So what's the deal America? What happened to the mob mentality of the Sons of liberty? Where are the pitch forks, the burning of leaders in efigy, tarring and feathering??!? Do we not remember our founding years? Two hundred plus years ago if King George III had burdened us with new taxes the likes of which we are now endowed with,we would have rose up en masse and taken control of our government. Oh wait... we already did that! What is stopping us from doing it again!
Have we forgotten that "we the people" are our own government? Those clowns in D.C. aren't coronated monarchs. They are elected officials put there BY US to make decisions regarding our nation's governance on our behalf. So far they have yet to act in OUR interests. Chuck Schumer stood in front of the Senate and declared that the "American people don't care about pork". There is a blatant disconnect between our officials and the rest of the country. Can we not see that we're being had? Our apathetic lack of vocal opposition has practically given Congress a blank check and a unintentional vote of confidence.
Most people seem content to quietly and politely disagree with Congress at the dinner table. Though I'm certain most people, like myself, are madder than a dog crapping galvanized roofing tacks! Get out there America. Take to the streets. Show up in force on the steps of the capitol with disgust written on signs and your faces. Light up the blogosphere. Contact your elected officials and talk their ears off. Rise up and let your anger be known. Rise up and take our country back!
